Sample Influence Letter With Writing Tips

Sample Influence Letter With Writing Tips Sample Influence Letter With Writing Tips When you want to do more than just say thank you for a job interview, an influence letter is a longer and more detailed way to explain to the employer why you are a leading candidate for the job. Influence Letter An influence letter is a letter written by a job candidate to an employer after a job interview.  In an influence letter, the candidate addresses the conversation had during the interview, dispelling any doubts the employer may have about the candidate’s qualifications, and emphasizing how the candidate can meet the employer’s needs. An influence letter is typically longer than a thank you letter (about 300 words) and is always typed rather than handwritten. Tips for Writing an Influence Letter Act Fast  â€" Mail your influence letter as soon as possible (preferably within twenty-four hours). If time is of the essence, send your letter by email.Letter Form  â€" Influence letters should be typed and sent either via mail or email.Keep it Concise â€"  Your letter should be no more than about 300 words. You do not want your letter to go over one page in length.Address and Dismiss Any Reservations  â€" If the interviewer expressed any concerns he or she had regarding your candidacy (or if you know you lack a particular  skill set  or qualification required for the job), now is your chance to dispel his or her doubts.  In the letter, address how your job history has prepared you to tackle the challenges of this new job. For example, if you lack knowledge of a particular computer program, emphasize that you are a fast learner, and give an example of a time you picked up a new skill quickly. Emphasize Your Qualifications  â€" Remind the employer of why you  are  an ideal candidate for the position. Mention particular skills or qualities the interviewer said he or she was looking for in a candidate, and emphasize  how you meet those qualifications. You want to focus on how you will be an asset to the company.Conform to the Employer’s Vision  â€" This is especially important if you and the interviewer did not “click” during the interview. For example, if the interviewer seemed to emphasize the company’s focus on teamwork more than you had anticipated, highlight your experience working on successful team projects. Your goal is to demonstrate to the employer that you would fit in seamlessly with his or her company. Proof Your Letter  â€" Read through your letter before sending it to check for spelling and grammar errors. Have a friend check it for you as well. Here are  proofreading tips. After hearing from you about the attention to detail and the multitasking skills that are essential for the job, I am more confident than ever that I am an ideal candidate.I understand that the position requires extensive knowledge of SIS and Oracle-Based FMPS, two programs with which I am not yet familiar. However, one of my greatest strengths is my ability to learn new tasks and new technologies quickly and efficiently. For example, as an editorial assistant at XYZ College, I mastered WordPress after only a brief seminar. Within two months, I was running the WordPress seminars for incoming editorial interns. You stated that the start date of the position is in two months. Since o ur interview, I have signed up for and begun to attend a four-week course on how to use both SIS and FMPS.  I have already made great strides in my fluency with these programs. By the time of staff orientation, I will be extremely well versed in these programs.I have the leadership experience, organizational skills, and technological savvy to be an essential member of the ABC Elementary School team. I greatly appreciate the time you took to interview me, and I look forward to hearing from you about this position.Best,Signature (hard copy letter)Firstname Lastname Expand
